The Race Towards The Light
Oh, won't you miss out If you don't race towards the light? They said. Oh, won't you miss out If you don't walk like a snail Towards the light? The others said. And so, this begins the dilemma Of life. "They" scream for you to run, And "The Others" for you to slow Down! Both scream for the same reason: For you to take it all in! So you ponder: To get to your destination fast Or enjoy the journey you take. Oh, won't you miss out if You choose to listen to They and The Others Who whisper in your ear to Do as they did or should have done. And oh, dear friend, won't you Miss out if you choose to Listen to words of any man? Of man like They who scream for Speed or of man like The Others Who yearn to walk. For both are the same, my friend. They and The Others - are one. So, won't you miss out, if you walk in their footsteps? for your life Is yours, with speed or without. Don't miss out by listening to These words. For you might miss out as You race to the light By listening to They, The Others, and To me. For "To go wrong in one’s own way is better than to go right in someone else’s," A great man once wrote. So, my friend, don't you miss out As you race towards the light.
And that concludes the poem of mine, written on the topic of speed, chosen by The Soaring Twenties Social Club.
If you are new, thanks and welcome! To my friends of old, welcome back. My heart thanks you, and my soul appreciates you for coming back to reading these words of mine.
Till next time
