“Will you listen?” He asked.
The lady took a deep breath in and smiled at him, “I’ll listen to everything you have to say to me, Phillip.”
His feet began to shake - “will you actually listen?” He screeched, slamming his palms on the handrest. “I’ve had many people tell me they’ll listen, tell me that they’ll be there for me and NOT A SINGLE ONE kept that promise. NOT ONE,” here his fidgeting began. Unable to stop it, he got up again and walked towards the window where he took in a deep breath and walked back to his seat.
“I’m sorry! It started, the voices started when I found out that he gives zero fucks about me,” He laughed, “Well he said he gave zero fucks about me, showed that he gave zero fucks about me, and that’s where it all started.” The fidgeting continued while the laugh died down.
“Take a deep breath with me then Phillip. In and out,” The lady said. “Breath in and out, I said I’ll listen so I’ll listen.”
“I said I’ll listen so trust me!”
“Like I trusted him?”
The feet began to move again. He closed his eyes and flinched when he saw a man hitting him with the back of his hands.
“I can’t say! Fuck I can’t say anything more. Why am I here to begin with?”
The room got quiet but the noise in Phillip’s head continued. The lady got up from her seat and walked to her right. He watched her open the door next to the window and out she came with something in her hands.
“I don’t believe in medicine, but I remember you telling me gospel music, so here’s a speaker. Play any of your songs.”
Phillip picked out a song off her mobile and as it began, tears began to gush out of his eyes.
“It’s my father. He brought the noises in my head.” The music stopped, and the lady thought to herself, “will he hurt himself if I let this session end here?” She looked at the time on her person, “Why did he come to me to begin with?”
“I’m alone in the darkness,” She heard, “All Alone.”
“And that’s why you came here then?”
“They all say you’re the best at helping people so I came to you. How will you help me in this darkness?”
